This test method covers the determination of water in petroleum products by the distillation method. The sample is heated under reflux with a water-immiscible solvent (using Dean-Stark apparatus). The mixture of core’s water and solvents’ vapors is evaporated by distillation and further condensed in a suitable volumetric tube, where water is separated gravimetrically and quantitatively determined.
